Capture the complete cylindrical profile
List each diameter, shoulder, groove, chamfer, thread, and hole along the part length. A full profile makes it easier to evaluate clamping positions, tool access, and the required machining sequence.
Account for material condition and later processes
Describe the supplied material condition and any planned heat treatment, coating, grinding, or assembly operation. Dimensions that are affected by later processes should be identified before the machining route is discussed.
Define the inspection focus
Clarify which diameters, lengths, concentric features, or surface conditions are critical to the part. Include lot size and expected changeovers so the inquiry reflects the real production situation.
